How to use

Isonat is designed for use as thermal and acoustic insulation in walls, roofs and floors. The high density and high flexural strength makes the product tight-fitting and slump resistant.

WHERE TO USE
Isonat is suitable for use as thermal and acoustic insulation in most construction situations, such as in roof spaces, walls and floors. Isonat is particularly suited to use in timber frame construction. However, the need to avoid getting Isonat wet means that it is not normally suitable for use in conventional brick and block cavity wall construction.

CUTTING
Isonat can be cut with a sharp knife. To cut use a straight edge and cut onto a board. Cutting is much easier if the product is compressed. For larger projects a sabre saw has found to be the best cutting tool. A sabre saw is a single blade electric saw with a reciprocating cutting action. With the sabre saw it is essential to use a non-serrated blade. Again, the sabre saw works much better if the product is compressed during cutting. Sabre saws are manufactured by Bosch in either cordless or plug-in models.

FIXING
Isonat batts should be pressed into place between the studs or rafters to ensure a snug fit with no gaps. Square cut edges should be fitted tightly together without gaps. Gaps create cold bridges and should be avoided. The semi-rigid nature of Isonat means that it can generally be used without the need for additional fixings.

HEALTH & SAFETY
Hemp and cotton fibres are completely harmless. Therefore, Isonat can be installed without gloves or protective clothing. Isonat is not irritating to the skin, eyes or respiratory system.
